SUMMARY:1st Day of Class - NAMI Basics Education for Caregivers of Youth
DESCRIPTION:NAMI Basics is a no-cost 6-week course for parents\, foster parents and primary caregivers of adolescents who are exhibiting signs or symptoms of a mental health condition. Course runs through July 6th. Foster parent CEU credit is available.\n\n\n \n\n\nThis is an online video conference meeting via Zoom. Because we value your safety and privacy only registered attendees may access the course. Video recording is not allowed.\n\n\n \n\n\nTo register\, please call NAMI at 563-386-7477 Ext.266 (M-F\, 10-2) \n\n\nRegister Online. Registration ends May 29 at 2 p.m. \n\n\n \n\n\nFoster parents are eligible to obtain credit training hours. (2.5 hours for 6 weeks = 15 hours).\n\n\n \n\n\nThis nationally-developed program is made possible by the investment of the Muscatine Health Support Granting Fund. NAMI is partnering with the Muscatine Department of Public Health to promote early detection and treatment for mental health conditions.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course is taught by trained parents or caregivers who have similar lived experiences with their own children and allows families to connect\, learn\, and empower themselves to overcome new challenges.\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Topics Include:\n\n\n \n\n\n~The impact mental health conditions can have on the whole family \n\n\n \n\n\n~Available professional help\, treatment options and therapies \n\n\n \n\n\n~Resources to help navigate school and justice systems \n\n\n \n\n\n~How to advocate for your child’s rights and to prepare and respond \n\n\nto crisis situations\n\n\n \n\n\n~Self-care

DESCRIPTION:NAMI Basics is a no-cost 6-week course for parents\, foster parents and primary caregivers of adolescents who are exhibiting signs or symptoms of a mental health condition. Course runs June 1 to July 6. Foster parent CEU credit is available.\n\n\n \n\n\nThis is an online video conference meeting via Zoom. Because we value your safety and privacy only registered attendees may access the course. Registration ends May 29 at 2 p.m. \n\n\n \n\n\nFoster parents are eligible to obtain credit training hours. NAMI Family-to-Family not only provides information and strategies for taking care of the person you love\, but you’ll also find out that you’re not alone. Recovery is a journey\, and there is hope.\n\n\n \n\n\n This program will run on Tuesday evenings beginning April 7 through May 26 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Online or call our NAMI office at 563-386-7477-x 266 (M-F 10-2). THANK YOU AND SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE \n. \nNAMI Homefront is a no cost\, six-session education program for family and friends of Military Service Members and Veterans with mental health conditions. It focuses on the unique needs of active duty and veteran communities\, such as post-deployment and post-discharge transitions. \nThe course is designed to help family members understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own well-being. The instructors of this course are also family members who have experience with military culture and know what it is like to have a loved one living with a mental health condition.  Topics include PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. \nNAMI Homefront is an adaptation of the evidence-based NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program\, which has been used in VA health facilities since the late 1990s. This course was originally created in cooperation with the United States Army. The course is promoted locally by the Iowa Veterans Administration. \nRegister Online or contact the NAMI GMV office at 563-386-7477 Ext.266 (M-F 10-2).\nRegistration deadline is: March 24th at 2:00 pm \nMust Obtain a Visitor Pass\nA visitor request form MUST be completed a couple of days before start of class and turned into the Visitor Center that is located at the Moline (main) Gate in building 23. DESCRIPTION:Who should attend: Family members and/or caregivers supporting a loved one over the age of 18 who lives with a mental health condition. \n\n\nThis 8-week education program is offered at no cost to participants and is nationally developed and federal-agency approved. NAMI Family-to-Family not only provides information and strategies for taking care of the person you love\, but you’ll also find out that you’re not alone. Recovery is a journey\, and there is hope.\n\n\n This program will run on Tuesday evenings beginning April 7 through May 26 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Onlineor call our NAMI office at 563-386-7477-x 266 (M-F 10-2). Registration is open until April 14 @ 2 p.m.\nAn instructor will contact each registrant for a phone conversation 1-2 weeks before the program begins.\n\n\nThe group setting provides mutual support and shared positive impact—experience compassion and reinforcement from other family members who have been trained to become instructors as a result of taking this course themselves.
