SUMMARY:Family Support Group - In Person
DESCRIPTION:This group meets the  3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church\, Room 208\, Davenport. \nFacilitators are Deb Frick\, Tami Bogosian and Kelly Heilig. \nOpen to family and friends of loved ones living with a mental health condition. As a family member you can face unique challenges: complex family dynamics\, social isolation and often unpredictable aspects of the condition. It can be overwhelming. Learn from others and our facilitators who have experience supporting youth and adults living with a mental health condition. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNAMI’s mental health support groups are unique for a number of reasons.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSupport groups are peer-led. A trained facilitator with lived mental illness experience will lead the group using a structured model. This ensures everyone has an opportunity to be heard and have their unique needs met. You are not alone and will never feel that way when you’re here.\nBy sharing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting\, you will gain hope and develop relationships. You will also gain insight from hearing the challenges and triumphs of others. The group encourages empathy\, productive discussion and a sense of community.\nWe also invite humor where appropriate as laughter is sometimes the best medicine!\nWhile NAMI does not offer counseling\, our support groups are often used to supplement the care you receive from a mental health professional.\n\n\nAs with all of our programs\, support groups are free and confidential. Walk-ins welcome.
