SUMMARY:Family Support Group - Muscatine
DESCRIPTION:This group meets the 1st Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. beginning June 5\, 2025\, at Calvary Church\, 499 W. 61 Bypass\, Door #B6\, Muscatine. Facilitators are Sara Carlson and Karen Holmes. \nOpen to family and friends of loved ones living with a mental health condition. As a family member you can face unique challenges: complex family dynamics\, social isolation and often unpredictable aspects of the condition. It can be overwhelming. Learn from others and our facilitators who have experience supporting youth and adults living with a mental health condition. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNAMI’s mental health support groups are unique for a number of reasons.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSupport groups are peer-led. A trained facilitator with lived mental illness experience will lead the group using a structured model. This ensures everyone has an opportunity to be heard and have their unique needs met. You are not alone and will never feel that way when you’re here.\nBy sharing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting\, you will gain hope and develop relationships. You will also gain insight from hearing the challenges and triumphs of others. The group encourages empathy\, productive discussion and a sense of community.\nWe also invite humor where appropriate as laughter is sometimes the best medicine!\nWhile NAMI does not offer counseling\, our support groups are often used to supplement the care you receive from a mental health professional.\n\n\nAs with all of our programs\, support groups are free and confidential. Walk-ins welcome.

SUMMARY:Family Support Group - Davenport/One Eighty
DESCRIPTION:This group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at One Eighty\, 601 N. Marquette St.\, Old School Building\, Classroom One\, Davenport. Free childcare is available. \nOpen to family and friends of loved ones living with a substance use disorder or other mental health challenge. As a family member you can face unique challenges: complex family dynamics\, social isolation and often unpredictable aspects of the condition. It can be overwhelming. Learn from others and our facilitators who have experience supporting youth and adults living with a mental health condition. This support group is offered by One Eighty and hosted by NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley. One Eighty equips people facing crisis\, poverty and addiction to invest in healthy relationships\, overcome barriers to freedom\, and encounter a life of hope in Christ. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNAMI’s mental health support groups are unique for a number of reasons.\n\n\n\n\nSupport groups are peer-led.
