NAMI is partnering with Four Oaks Foster and Adoptive Family Connection to offer up to 15-hours continuing education credit to Illinois and Iowa foster parents that care for youth exhibiting mental health symptoms. Grants from Theisen’s and the Quad Cities Community Foundation make this foster course possible.
“NAMI is a national organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals living with a mental health condition and their families,” says Vicki Walters, local NAMI education coordinator. “Our programs are taught by family members with lived experiences. These programs offer new insights into mental health conditions, as well as support for all-types of family members who serve as caregivers.”
NAMI Basics education program will be offered in six sessions beginning Sunday, March 24 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at CASI – Center for Active Seniors, 1035 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport. The course is free and available to parents, foster parents, and other caregivers of children and adolescents who have shown symptoms of a mental health condition. Registration is required.
