For Service Member Families supporting a loved one living with a mental health condition such as PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury and more. This course is approved by the Veterans Administration under a Memorandum of Understanding with NAMI. We’re working locally with the VA in Iowa City and Quad Cities veterans organizations.
NAMI Homefront is a no cost, six session education program for family and friends of Military Service Members and Veterans. It focuses on the unique needs of active duty and veterans communities, such as post-deployment and post-discharge transitions. The course is designed to help family members understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own well-being.
The instructors of this course are also family members who have experience with military culture and know what it is like to have a loved one living with a mental health condition.
NAMI Homefront is an adaptation of the evidence-based NAMI Family to Family Education Program, which has been used in VA health facilities since the late 1990s.
Or contact our office 10-2 M-F at 563-386-7477 ext.266 or coordinator@namigmv.org. Registration deadline is Friday, April 5th, 2 p.m. An instructor will contact all participants 1-2 weeks before the program starts.
