Now Registering NAMI Basics Program – Davenport

Begins Sunday March 24- from 2 to 4:30 p.m.b

NAMI Basics is a no-cost 6-week session program for parents, foster parents and primary caregivers of adolescents who have shown signs or symptoms of a mental health condition. Course runs through May 5 (skipping Easter Sunday). Registration ends Friday March 22 at 2:00 p.m.

Foster parents in Iowa and Illinois are eligible to obtain credit training hours. (2.5 hours for 6 weeks = 15 hours).

This program is taught by trained parents/caregivers who have similar lived experiences of their own children, allowing families to connect, learn and empower themselves to overcome new challenges. This program is offered in part from a Thiesen’s More for Your Community Grant.

Course Elements Include:
~ The biology of the brain
~The latest research advances in treatment and an overview of treatment options
~The impact of a child’s mental health condition on the rest of the family
~ An overview of the systems of care for children and teens living with a mental health condition

Instructors will call 1-2 weeks prior to start of class.

Who should attend: Family members and caregivers supporting a loved one over the age of 18 who lives with a mental health condition.

Conditions covered are: Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Post Traumatic Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.

The program is taught by trained family members who have chosen to become instructors after being empowered as a result of taking this course. Many describe this program as life changing. Join the thousands of families who have gained information, insight, understanding and empowerment from attending this signature program.

Please note: this program will run every Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. All registrants will be contacted 1 to 2 weeks before classes start for a phone screening and location directions.
